Call for Committee Members • 委員会メンバー募集

FANS Japan, a new subsidiary of the Fandom and Neomedia Studies (FANS) Association, is pleased to announce a Call for Members to organize an annual conference and to edit an annual journal to be titled Dai-ryū /大竜, which will publish the conference’s proceedings.

Our mission is to encourage, assist, and publish work in our fields of study on an intenational scale. As we look toward our tenth year, the FANS Association is pleased to expand with a dedicated national organization for Japan under the leadership of Dr. Darren-Jon Ashmore of Yamanashi Gakuin University with assistance from Jay Pustějovskeý Bennett of the University of Texas at Dallas and Jonathan Tarbox of Prince Sultan University.

Members would be charged with soliciting submissions of work in our fields of study, construed broadly, reviewing submissions, and voting on whether or not to include them in the annual conference and journal. The main FANS Japan conference would be in late December or January. We will also have a small event in June via webcast technology to align in the main FANS Conference in Texas. The first FANS Japan event will be a memorial conference dedicated to Matsumoto Leiji-Sensei to be held in conjunction with the FANS Conference, 2-4 June 2023.

Membership is open to academics and creative industry professionals alike. Specific portfolios may be assigned as needs develop or by member request.
